EU-funded initiative procures new school buses for seven Ukrainian municipalities
An EU-funded initiative has provided seven Ukrainian municipalities with new school buses.
The buses were procured and delivered by the ‘Local School Rehabilitation for Resilience’ initiative, implemented by U-LEAD with Europe and funded by the European Commission’s Service for Foreign Policy Instruments.
Thanks to these buses, students will be able to travel safely to their schools, which have been rebuilt as part of the same initiative, in partnership with the BRAVE Foundation.
“As a result of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, many local schools and school buses in affected municipalities have been destroyed or damaged. This forces students to travel longer distances to reach functioning schools, exacerbating transport needs in these areas,” says a Facebook post by the EU Delegation to Ukraine. “The European Union is helping municipalities in Ukraine to create safe and comfortable conditions for students to return to in-person schooling.”
