MONTANA - Temperatures were cool across Montana but the winds made it seem colder. They were in the 50s.

A fire weather warning goas until 9 pm for east central Montana, including Jordan and Glendive. Strong winds and dry air are creating extreme fire danger.

A wind advisory goes until 6 am Tuesday for Fort Peck Lake, with gusts up to 50 mph. Sustained winds were 30 to 35 mph in northeast Montana with gusts up to near 50 mph.

Skies were clear except for cloudy across the northeast corner.

Counterclockwise circulation around low pressure in Canada was bringing strong winds to northeast Montana along with a few sprinkles and showers. That will move out tonight allowing for diminishing winds.

High pressure builds into the state tomorrow into Wednesday, bringing a warming trend and sunny skies.

A moist southwest flow develops late Wednesday and as a cold front approaches Thursday, will spark a few showers and thunderstorms. Lows levels are dry so no much rain is expected. A more robust system will bring a better chance of rain late Friday and this weekend.

Lows tonight in the 20s to lower 30s with highs tomorrow in the upper 50s and 60s. Highs warm to the 60s and 70s Wednesday and Thursday before falling back to the 40s and 50s by the weekend.
