Earlier today, on CNN Newsroom, journalist and political commentator  Angela Rye had to put former Senator Rick Santorum gently in his place. It all started during a roundtable style conversation regarding a report of President Trump’s work day, which is said to require three hours of “downtime,” to do, well, absolutely nothing (and we’re excluding his sleep hours).

That might explain all the time on his hands to tweet until his thumbs get calloused.

Anyway, Rye reacted to the report, suggesting that Trump could use his time more effectively and productively, while also saying he’s making the oval “office a disgrace.” Santorum, went on to say that Rye’s comments were “disqualifying,” to which the journalist did what she does best — and that’s speak up and talk back.

Angela Rye: If he needs downtime, here is how I suggest he use it. Put down the remote. Put down your phone and stop getting on Twitter. Stop putting down other human beings. Put down everything you’re doing to make this office a disgrace.

Santorum: This is the kind of disqualifying commentary we see from the left…

Angela Rye: Former Senator, let me also give you a recommendation. Speaking of down, so what you should not do, is speak down to a fellow commentator on the same network. So you don’t have to agree with my commentary at all, but it’s certainly not disqualifying because I disagree with you. And it’s certainly disqualifying if there is any working professional who spends the first three hours of the work day relaxing when they need to abreast of foreign policy issues, domestic policy issues and making sure that they’re managing their team instead, wreaking havoc all over the country and certainly in the White House. I don’t think it’s right for you to talk down to a fellow commentator because you don’t like what I said.

Well said and well read. Bloop!
